Pakistan’s new Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed Ehsan Mani as the new chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Ehsan Mani is the successor of Najam Sethi who resigns from his post on August 20. According to him, he was waiting for the completion of PM’s oath ceremony.
Imran Khan confirmed Mani’s appointment by tweeting, “I have appointed Ehsan Mani as Chairman PCB. He brings vast and valuable experience to the job. He represented PCB in the ICC; was Treasurer ICC for 3 yrs and then headed the ICC for another 3 yrs.”
Ehsan Mani is not the new face for Pakistan Cricket Board and the International Cricket Council as he served both entities in previous years. 1945 born Mani represented PCB in ICC from 1989 to 1996 and was the chair-person of ICC Finance and Marketing Committee till 2002.
At once, the newly appointed PCB chairman Ehsan Mani was the ICC president. He was elected International Cricket Council president in 2003.
The big task for Pakistan Cricket Board Chair-person Mani is to bring international cricket to Pakistan and make believe other boards and nations that playing in Pakistan is safe. However he’ll need to look into PSL T20’s upcoming season as well.
We can expect good relations between BCCI and PCB after Ehsan Mani’s appointment as he’s been in favor of playing with India.
