London: Big news for cricket fans as International Cricket Council is all set to announce “World Test Championship” in 2021. After successful completion of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and Pakistan claiming maiden title, Sports Mirchi correspond contacted to an official about future tournaments.

We tried to know about Champions Trophy future and possibilities of the Test Championship. A highly-placed International Cricket Council resource mentioned that organization is planning to boost test cricket and has been in talks with the key members to organize world test championship in 2021.

The resource said, “Yes, we are thinking to revive test cricket’s legacy and it’s stardom by introducing a ‘World Test Championship’. 2021 year is perfect to start such a big tournament.”

According to the correspond and official’s talk, cricket’s biggest governing council is planing to bring major cricketing event every year in it’s different form. “ICC members are trying best to organize one major cricket event every year. Look we have next key ICC tournament is 2019 cricket world cup and then World Twenty20 in 2020 as there is no possibility of WT20 in 2018 due to short span of time,” official quoted.

The official commented that majority of cricket boards will be involved in bilateral series. And sponsors are less interested to have world t20 next year. Hence ICC will not be organizing World T20 2018 and it will be played in 2020. Australia was already announced as the host of 2020 WT20 and it will host it with New Zealand or not, it’s decision will be taken soon.
