India U19 wins 2019 Asia Cup defeating Bangladesh in exciting thriller

Indian Under-19 cricket team has defeated Bangladesh in the final of Asia Cup to win title for the seventh time in history. In a low scoring final, India won the match by 5 runs; thanks to brilliant bowling from young Mumbai bowler Atharva Ankolekar who took 5 wickets in Bangladeshi innings.

Winning the toss, India under-19 chose to bat first at R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The start India wanted, was far away from them as Bangladesh bowlers dismissed top three Indian batsmen at just 8 runs score.

After captain Dhruv Jurel built small partnership with Shahwat Rawat and took team’s total past 50.

After that India lost Shashwat first and then quick wickets at the regular intervals. Karan Lal was the highest run scorer for Men in Blue with crucial 37 runs innings at the lower order. Meanwhile skipper Jurel made 33 runs. India set a target of 107 runs for Bangladesh which was easy.

To become Under-19 Asia Cup 2019 champions, all was needed to score 107 runs in 50 overs for Bangladesh. But unfortunately they couldn’t do and whole team got all out on 101. Atharva Ankolekar was the star in India’s win as he dismissed 5 batsmen to make India champions.
