IPL 2020 is postponed: Opening match schedule for 15 April

BCCI governing council have decided to postpone 13th edition of Vivo Indian Premier League on 13 March. The decision was taken by keeping the fact in mind that Coronavirus has spread in the country and as per Government of India release. visas can’t be given to foreigners until April 15. Hence Indian board decided to organize IPL 2020 from 15th April.

“The BCCI is concerned and sensitive about all its stakeholders, and public health in general, and it is taking all necessary steps to ensure that, all people related to IPL including fans have a safe cricketing experience,” BCCI said in a release.

Coronavirus is spread in India and more cases have arose. Hence various state governments including Delhi govt. ordered to ban IPL matches in the city.

Initially India’s twenty20 competition was scheduled to begin from 29 March with opening game slatted to play between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. But outburst of Coronavirus lead to shift tournament by 17 days and it will kick off on 15th April.

IPL governing council meeting to be held on 14th March and it will take further decision on the organization of mega Indian t20 league.
