Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni is set to keep his job carry on with national team in until 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Cesar Menotti, Argentina team director confirmed that Scaloni’s contract would be extended and official details to be announced next week.
“It [the extended contract] is what he deserved and there was an agreement,” Cesar quoted as saying by news agency Xinhuanet.
Scaloni was appointed Argentine soccer team coach after team’s poor run at 2018 world cup in Russia when Jorge Scaloni was head coach. Argentina secured third place in the Copa America 2019 recently concluded where they beat title defenders Chile.
Argentina failed to qualify for the final of premium football event as they were knocked out in the semi-final by Brazil who later on championship. South American football teams to begin 2022 world cup qualification in March 2020.
