Hat-trick is considered as one of the top achievements in cricket sport for bowlers. When a bowler takes three wickets on successive balls in the same match, it is known as a hat-trick. And when a bowler takes hat trick in ICC Cricket World Cup match, it becomes more special as world cup is the top tournament of sport.

First ever hat-trick in cricket world cup was taken by India’s Chetan Sharma during 1987 ICC world cup at Nagpur against New Zealand. The latest hat-trick in cwc is taken by Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami at Southampton against Afghanistan during 2019 cricket world cup.

Till date, on 10 occasions bowlers have succeed to take hat-trick in ICC world cup event. Lasith Malinga from Sri Lanka is the only bowler to take three consecutive wickets twice in the competition as he took hat-tricks in 2007 and 2011 world cups.
