Matildas coach Alen Stajcic has declared 32 members preliminary squad for the training camp in January to make preparations for the 2015 Women’s Fifa world cup. The training camp has been scheduled to take place from 12 to 15 January next year.
This will be the great chance for players to impress Stajcic after the completion of W-League season. Stajcic is happy with the Australian women’s squad that he has selected for the training session of three days.
Alen Stajcic said, “I’ve had a good look at all the players throughout the W-League season and I am happy with the group of players that I have selected for this camp. There is a balance of youth and experience in the squad and it will be a good starting point for our intense preparation period.”
This is not a final squad for the world cup 2015 as several players are returning from injury and they’ll have to express themselves fit and fine to make appeared in the mega event in June-July.
“This is by no means a final squad as there are number of players returning from injury that are still in contention for selection. It’s now up to the players to make the step up and show the coaching staff why they deserve to go to the World Cup.”
Australia is placed into the group D of FIFA women’s world cup in Canada. United States, Sweden and Nigeria are the other teams of group. Matildas to face US in their first game of 2015 world cup on 8 June at Investors Group Field.
