Pakistan to host next Asia Cup 2020

The next edition of cricket’s Asia Cup is set to be played in 2020 and Pakistan is granted the hosting rights of tournament. However it is still unclear whether event will be played in Pakistan or UAE or maybe somewhere else.

The upcoming Asia Cup 2020 will be 15th edition of championship and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Nazmul Hassan Papon announced Pakistan as hosts of the competition in Bangladesh.

“The next Asia Cup will be hosted by Pakistan, and the hosting right belongs to them. Where they will host the tournament, it’s up to them,” Nazmul Hassan was quoted as saying by Dhaka Tribune.

Pakistan is playing home series matches in UAE since 2010. Terrorists attacked on Sri Lanka team in 2010 which enforced international teams not to play in Pakistan. Hence it will be interesting to see if all participating teams ready to come Pakistan and participate in the event.

2020 Asia Cup is set to stage in September month just before ICC T20 World Cup in October-November. Tournament will be played in twenty20 format as prelude to world cup in Australia.

India will be title defending champion in forthcoming Asia Cup as they beat Bangladesh in 2018 final to claim 7th title.
