Simona Halep wins her first Grand Slam at French Open

Losing three Grand Slam finals, day has come for Simona Halep was waiting for her first major women’s tennis title as she won French Open 2018 crown in Paris on 9th June. Romanian professional beat USA’s Sloane Stephens in the Roland Garros final by 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 to claim maiden title.

This was Simona’s third French Open final as she played 2014 and 2017 Roland Garros finals where she faced defeat against Maria Sharapova and Jelena Ostapenko. Halep played 2018 Australian Open final as well but lost it against Caroline Wozniacki.

Winning her first grand slam, Halep was exclaimed with joy and said, “I was dreaming of this moment since I was starting to play tennis.
