Big hundreds from Lahiru Thirimanne and Kumar Sangakkara lead Sri Lanka to register 9 wickets victory over England cricket team in 2015 world cup match at Wellington Stadium. Sri Lanka chased the target of 310 runs in 47.2 overs with 9 wickets in hand. Wicket-keeper batsman Kumar Sangakkara was named player of the match for his brilliant inning of 117 in 86 balls.

In the chase of 310 target Sri Lanka got excellent start as openers Tillakaratne Dilshan and Lahiru Thirimanne got 100 runs partnership in 19 overs. Moeen Ali removed Dilshan to give England some hopes to get back in the match but Kumar Sangakkara and Thirimianne didn’t let it happened. Both batsmen didn’t take risk and took team towards winning way.

Thirimanne and Sangakkara scored their own hundreds to reach the total before 16 balls remaining in the match. Winning this match Sri Lanka have earned 2 points and now they are at the second position in points table with six points. England has to work hard if they really want to qualify for the quarter-finals.
