India won 7th Asia Cup defeating Bangladesh in 2018 final

That was pretty close final on Friday night in Dubai as India beat Bangladesh in the last ball thriller to win their 7th Asia Cup title. Indian cricket team successfully defended their crown in the 14th edition of Asian Championship.

Winning toss, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma asked Bangladesh to bat. Openers Liton Das and Mehidy Hasan provided brilliant start as both batsmen posted 120 runs for the first wicket partnership. Kedar Jadhav with golden armed picked first wicket of the final as he dismissed Hasan.

After Hasan’s dismissal, Bangladesh batting collapsed and team managed to score just 222 runs and failed to play 50-over quota of the innings. Three batsmen were dismissed by India’s prime spinner Kuldeep Yadav meanwhile three were run-outs.

In the chase of 223 target, India got firm start as Rohit and Dhawan posted 35 runs on the board in first five overs. Captain Rohit Sharma was the highest run scorer of Indian innings as he made 48 before getting dismissed. At one stage, Men in Blue were struggling as top 5 wickets returned to pavilions on 167 score.

Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar built 45-runs crucial partnership to take team close to the target. Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar were dismissed in successive overs but Jadhav took the game away from Bangladesh as he returned to the middle after getting retired hurt in between the innings.

Hence India defeated Bangladesh in the final of 2018 Asia Cup to become champion. Liton Das got player of the match award for his brilliant hundred meanwhile Shikhar Dhawan was awarded Player of The Series for his brilliant run throughout the championship.

Bangladesh: 222 all out in 48.3 overs (Liton Das: 121 runs, Sarkar: 33 runs, Kuldeep: 3 wickets)

India: 223/7 in 50 overs (Rohit: 48 runs, Karthik: 37 runs, Mustafizur: 2 wickets, Rubel: 2 wickets)

Result: India won by 3 wickets
