The 47th edition of Copa America is scheduled to play in 2020 and 12 teams will be competing in the championship. Ten original CONMEBOL member association teams will be participating in Copa America 2020 event which is scheduled to play from 12th June to 12th July. Argentina and Colombia are hosting the competition jointly.

2020 Copa America will be first tournament when matches to be played in two groups on the basis of teams allocation as per their region either Northern or Southern. Two guest teams Qatar and Socceroos will share these groups. Final match of 47th Copa America edition will take place on July 12.

On December 3, 2019, groups were confirmed as Australia is placed in Group-A i.e. South zone having Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, Chile and Paraguay. Meanwhile Qatar is placed in North Zone group with teams like Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Peru. Argentina to play Chile in the opening match of Copa America 2020 season.
