PR Sreejesh aiming to HIL title for Uttar Pradesh Wizards

The richest goalkeeper of Hockey India League PR Sreejesh is looking fulfill the expectations from him in the tournament. Uttar Pradesh Wizards bought Sreejesh Ravindran for 69,000 dollars means 43 lakhs INR. He played starting two seasons of HIL for Mumbai Magicians which is now not a part of league.

The Indian vice-captain Sreejesh has performed well in 2014 year and he contributed a lot in team’s success in Asian games and Commonwealth games. India won gold medal in Asian games whereas secured silver medal in Commonwealth games.

PR Sreejesh praised hockey India league as he believes that tournament helps players to sharpen their skills and let them know about weakness. He said, “HIL has been an excellent platform to sharpen our skills and tactics. Playing with the best players from all over the world, you realise where you stand and where you aim to be.

One learns a lot while playing such tournaments. This year I will aim at giving my best to help my team to reach for the title and living up to the expectations of all.”

Uttar Pradesh Wizards have some good overseas players. Australian George Bazeley and Malaysian Kumar Subramaniam are the two vital international players in UPW squad for HIL 2015. Playing with these guys will surely help Indian youngsters to improve their game.

“It will be a treat for me as I will watch from the other end players like Eddie Ockenden, Jeroen Hertzberger, David Alegre, Shea McAleese fighting it out against the opponents and trying to take UP Wizards up the points table,” Sreejesh added.

The opening match of 2015 hockey India League will be held at Bhubneshwar on 22nd January between Kalinga Lancers and Ranchi Rays.
