Nick Kyrgios knocked out Roger Federer from Madrid Open

Australian Nick Kyrgios has produced one of the biggest upsets of 2015 Mutua Madrid Open as he’s beaten top seed Roger Federer in the second round of tournament. This is the 2nd occasion when Nick has defeated a top 10 rank player as last year he surprised Rafael Nadal in Wimbledon. Kyrgios won by 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (14-12) against world number 2 Federer.

After winning this game, Kyrgios was very delighted and said that this was his career’s one of the biggest win. He said, “I guess that’s why you play the game, to play on these big courts against these big players.  He’s the greatest of all‑time, no doubt. When you’re growing up and playing and watching these guys, you want to go out there.  That’s one thing I think about every time I step out against one of these guys on a court like that.”

Nick Kyrgios knocked out Roger Federer from Madrid Open.

“This is my best win. He’s proven that he us best. He can play on any surface. Obviously the leading Grand Slam winner. Done so much for the sport as well.  It definitely ranks as one of my best wins,” he added.

Roger Federer recently won Istanbul Open and was favorite to win this tournament as well. But in his very first match of the competition he couldn’t make through to enter in the third round of Madrid Masters and he knocked out. After the match Roger said that it was a difficult match for him and he didn’t take Nick lightly.

He said, “It was a fast‑paced match in terms of we don’t take much time between points.

A lot of points were decided by serving.  I expected that.  I expected it to be difficult match.  It was my first round here in Madrid where conditions are entirely different to Istanbul.”
