Australia team has reached to the semi-final of cricket world cup 2015 by defeating Pakistan in quarter-final played at Adelaide Oval. Australia won by 6 wickets with 97 balls remaining to make it through semis. Josh Hazlewood was declared Player of The Match for his 4 wickets in Pakistan innings. Australia will play second semi-final of world cup against defending champions India on 26 March.
Pakistan won toss and chose to bat first. They got bad start both openers returned to pavilion in 6th over of match. Misbah and Sohail tried to built partnership but Australian all-rounder took Misbah’s crucial wicket in 24th over when Pakistan’s score was just 97. As Misbah returned to pavilion, Pakistani hopes were getting down and they started to lose wickets on regular intervals.
Whole Pakistan team all out in 49.5 overs. All middle order batsmen got starts but they failed to capitalized on it. They threw their wickets and Pak went in disaster position on a good batting track. Pakistan made just 213 runs in crucial knockout match.
Australia chased down this 214 runs target in 34th over for the lose of four wickets. Aussies also got bad start in the match and they lost three big wickets of Finch, Warner and Clarke in 11 overs after putting just 59 runs on the scoreboard. After this, Steve Smith and Shane Watson built partnership of 89 runs for the fourth wicket. Smith made 65 in 69 balls to take Australia on winning track.
Ehsan Adil took Smith’s crucial wicket. After this Australia didn’t lose any wicket and Watson, Maxwell confirmed Australia’s semi-final berth.
