Football governing council FIFA have announced the official broadcasters of 2022 FIFA World Cup for Russia region. Russian television broadcasters Channel One, VGTRK and Match TV will be telecasting live football matches of 22nd world cup edition to be held in Qatar.
“FIFA has concluded an agreement for the media rights in Russia to FIFA events taking place between 2019 and 2022, including the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022,” FIFA said in a statement.
The agreement signed between two entities enables VGTRK, Gazprom Media (Match TV) and Channel One will have the exclusive rights to air world cup games on television sets, radio, online website and mobile platforms.
“The media rights licensees will broadcast the competitions on both free-to-air and subscription-based channels throughout the Russian territory,” FIFA quoted.
Russia hosted last world cup in summer 2018 which was won by France defeating Croatia in the final. Qatar to host first ever winter FIFA world cup from 21 November to 18 December.
