England is set to play big match in 2015 ICC world cup for them to survive in the tournament as they are going to face 2011 world cup finalists Sri Lanka on 1st March at Wellington. This is the 22nd match of 11th cricket world cup in pool A. In played first games in the tournament, England managed to win only one match which was against Scotland.
England has got two points from 3 matches in the points table and they have to win this crucial match against Sri Lanka to keep their hopes alive. If English side didn’t have -1.41 runs rate, then still we can say that win against Sri Lanka is not compulsory for England to qualify for quarterfinals. After SL match, England will have only two group matches against small teams and they will be favorite to win those.
Captain Eoin Morgan has got believed that team will perform well in tomorrow’s match and will produce their best cricket of world cup so far. He said, “Our performances is going to have to be really good and better than anything we have produced at this World Cup so far.”
“Sri Lanka look in a good place at the moment. We have played against them a lot recently. I know they rely a lot on their senior players so it is a test for us up against some of the best cricketers, guys who have played 300-400 games. It will be a really good test and challenge the guys are looking forward to.”
But it is not going to be easy for England to beat Sri Lanka as Sri-Lankan team is in great touch and previous performance against Bangladesh was really awesome. Tillkaratne Dilshan and Kumar Saangakkara came in the form and scored centuries. Before that match, Mahela Jayawardene hit century against Afghanistan. Hence Sri Lanka batting is in good form.
Sri Lanka is already having four points in the points table of pool A and will be reaching to the quarterfinals comfortably. Though Jeevan Mendis is ruled out from the tournament SL team is strong and their batting becomes more stronger as Upul Tharanga has joined the camp.
