But they will play their first match away from home against the Barbados Tridents at Barbados.

The mystery spinner Sunil Narine is the skipper of the team. The Warriors team is a well balanced unit with great impact players such as Malinga, Dilshan and Bishoo. They will be a formidable outfit in the 3rd season of the CPL and will surely produce exciting moments in the league.

Squad

Retained players

Sunil Narine, Lendl Simmons, Denesh Ramdin, Christopher Barnwell

Picked up in the draft

Lasith Malinga, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Thisara Perera, Brad Hodge, Veerasammy Permaul, Ronsford Beaton, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Devendra Bishoo, Trevor Griffith, Assad Fudadin, Paul Wintz

Key players –

Lasith Malinga, Sunil Narine, Dilshan and Bishoo.

Strengths

The bowling unit of the Warriors is close to being the best in the league. Narine and Bishoo who have had excellent careers in the shortest format of the game will give the team plenty of positives.

Along with the two spinners, Malinga who is one of the best T20 bowlers is also a part of the team. They have plenty of bowling all rounders in Thisara Parera, Lendl Simmons to name some. The balance in the team is provided by these all rounders but the bowlers in the team are pure match winner on their own and might prove to be the difference in close matches.

Weaknesses

The Warriors have a balanced unit but lack great fire power that can win matches on its own in their batting order. Lack of quality proven players who can take the game away from the opposition can prove to be a problem in the long run for the team.

Lendl Simmons, Chanderpaul and Dilshan are the only proven players, while even Chanderpaul has not done much in T20s.  While other young talents in the squad may step up to the occasion, the experienced players will have to take the responsibility in every game. This may cause problems to the team when they have to score big.

Though there may be some weaknesses in the team, the Warriors have a pretty well balanced side and if they are able to get the best out of their players during the leagues, they may well be on their way to a historic season of the CPL.
