The 3rd season of the Caribbean Premier league will start this week and the whole of cricketing world is looking forward to the occasion. The previous seasons provided a great advertisement of local talent to the whole world and this has given the CPL a great response from within their local fans.
6 Teams will fight for the big prize at the end of the season as we bring you close to another team to fight for the prize. The St Lucia Zouks team is a franchise based in Saint Lucia in the Caribbean. Stuart Williams is the head coach of the team and will be assisted by Ian Allen in his duty. The captain of the team will be the ex- Windies skipper Darren Sammy.
The Beausejour Stadium will be the home ground for the Zouks. It has a top capacity just more than 14000 people. The first game for the team will be at this stadium on the 21st of June against the T&T Red Steel.
Players like Ross Taylor, Kevin Pietersen and Kemar Roach lend a very strong look to this team. They will want the local talent to chip in along with the stars in the team and will want to win the league in the 3rd edition of the CPL.
Retained players –
Darren Sammy, Kevin Pietersen, Johnson Charles and Andre Fletcher.
Picked up in the draft –
Ross Taylor, Shakib Al Hasan, Shannon Gabriel, Henry Davids, Fidel Edwards, Kemar Roach, Shane Shillingford, Kyle Mayers, Keddy Lesporis, Liam Sebastien and Delorn Johnson.
The batting and bowling of the Zouks looks really settled and world class. Fidel Edwards with Kemar Roach, and KP with Ross Taylor is a treat to watch for the fans. The great amount of talent in the squad makes it one of the strongest teams in the league.
Most of the local players in the team are also capped national players for West Indies. Andre Fletcher, Gabriel, Kyle Myers etc have had a career in international cricket and this will provide even more strength to the team.
The Zouks have a very good squad but lack genuine all rounder’s who can lend balance to the squad. The skipper will be the only player in the squad who can contribute with the bat and the ball and this may haunt them in games in need of players like these.
More than the quality of the player, an all rounder gives so much stability to the team. He lends the balance to the team with which the team can feel confident of themselves in all situations. The Zouks lack such impact players and may well regret at the end of the season.
They played some great cricket in the previous season but were unlucky on many occasions. They will want to prove that they still are a very good side in this season. Kevin Pietersen, who is in great form and Darren Sammy the skipper are the players that can give the Zouks a great time in this seasons CPL.
