Two times Rugby World Cup Champions, South Africa team will be heading to England for playing 2015 world cup beginning from 18th September. Springbok is placed in the Pool B of competition along with Samoa, Japan, United States and Scotland. While announcing the squad, South African coach Meyer mentioned that it was difficult for him to pick final 31-players for the prestigious event.

Coach said, “Every single player in our wider group worked incredibly hard and to cut the squad to 31 was probably the most difficult selection I’ve faced in my coaching career. In the end, the selectors decided the 31 players named were the best we have at the moment but that is not to say any of the others won’t have a role to play, with injuries a reality in our game.”

The Springbok team composition looks balanced in terms with experience and young blood. JP Pietersen, De Villiers, Habana, Bismarck, Ruan Pienaar, Fourie du Preez and Jannie du Plessis were the part of 2007 world cup winning African side. Schalk Burger and Matfield have represented Springbok in previous three world cups.

“I think the squad has a great balance between youth and experience while keeping together the core of the team that did the country proud in the last few years. We also have a number of players who know what it takes to win a World Cup and their knowledge will be very valuable,” Mr. Meyer added.
