The fifth match of the 2015 Caribbean Premier League was pretty much one-sided. The star studded Red steel team was expected to show a much better performance but comprehensively beaten by the reigning champions Tridents. Barbados defeated Trinidad Red Steel by 8 wickets with 41 balls remaining in the match.
Red Steel batting first lost both four wickets when the score was only 3 runs and was in deep trouble. The wickets included Kallis, Kamran Akmal and Darren Bravo. Jason Holder was the main bowler to damage the Red Steel top order. He finished with incredible figures of 3/11.
Dwayne Bravo tried to take the score to a respectable position from 20/5. He scored a decent 30 off 28 balls. After his departure, the Red Steel folded for 95 runs playing out all 20 overs.
Barbados Tridents got off to a good start once again. Dwayne Smith and Munaweera gave a fifty run partnership for the opening wicket before the Sri Lankan holed out by Benn after hitting 39 runs that included 5 fours and 2 sixes. Smith was dismissed the very next ball for 33.
Shoaib Malik and Jonathan Carter ensured no more hiccups in Tridents innings and chased down the target in 13.1 overs. Suleimann Benn was the most successful bowler for the Red Steel for his figures of 2/24. Jason Holder was awarded the Player of the Match for his outstanding figures of 4-1-11-3. Tridents maintained their all win record and sitting comfortably at the top of the table.
