CPL 2019: Irfan Pathan becomes First Indian to feature in Foreign T20 league
India’s Irfan Pathan has become first Indian to be featured in an overseas twenty20 league as he’s been listed in the players draft of Hero Caribbean Premier League 2019. However Pathan’s participation is subjected to BCCI’s permission as he’ll require “No Objection Certificate (NOC)” to participate in CPLT20.
CPL governing council has sent the players list to all six franchises before the draft takes place on 22nd May in London. Irfan Pathan didn’t play last two IPL seasons in 2019 and 2018 meanwhile he played just one game for Gujarat Lions in 2017. For Rising Pune Supergiant, all-rounder played 4 matches during Indian Premier League 2016 edition.
A record number of 536 cricketers from around the globe have registered themselves to be picked in the players draft. Each team can retain up to 6 players from previous season squad. Caribbean Premier League operations director Michael Hall reflected all the aspects of players draft before it takes place.
“Prior to the draft, each franchise will have the option to retain and/or acquire a maximum of six players, although there is no obligation to do so. The fact that so many players have registered for our draft is a testament to the stature of our league. Playing cricket in the Caribbean is something that all players look forward to, and the CPL combines that allure with a high standard of cricket.

We expect that this year’s tournament will be no different,” Hall said.
CPL 2019 set to take place between 4th September and 12th October.
