The 16th season of Asian Cup is in now final stage as tournament has got four semifinalists. Korea Republic, Australia, Iraq and UAE have entered in the semi-final stage of competition by winning their respective quarterfinal games. Two semifinal matches are scheduled to play on 26 and 27 January.
Let’s have a look at the semifinal teams in Asian Cup 2015, how they reached to the semi-final.
Quarterfinal 1: South Korea 2 : 0 Uzbekistan
In the first quarterfinal match Korea Republic defeated Uzbekistan by 2-0 to make it through to the semi-final round. South Korean player Son Heung-min hit 2 goals for the team to became first team to reach in the semifinal. He scored goals in 104’ and 120’ minutes as first 90 minutes were goal less in the first quarterfinal. Read more about the match here.
Quarterfinal 2: Australia 2 : 0 China PR
Asian Cup 2015 hosts Australia beat China PR to register their name in the final four teams of tournament. Socceroos legend and star player Tim Cahill scored two goals in the second quarterfinal match to beat China by 2-0.

Cahill hit goals in 49’ and 65’ minute of match. Australia was the second roster in competition to qualify for the semifinal. Read more about match here.
Quarterfinal 3: Iraq 3(7) : (6)3 Iran
In the third quarterfinal match of 16th Asian Cup Iraq football team defeated Iran in the exciting thriller. Iraq won by 7-6 in the penalty shootout as both sides were at score level 3-3 till 120 minutes. Iraq to face South Korea in the semifinal on 26 January. Read full match report here.
Quarterfinal 4: UAE 1(5) : (4)1 Japan
In the final quarterfinal United Arab Emirates stunned defending champions of tournament and beat Japan by 5-4 in the penalty shootout. Both teams were at 1-1 after the completion of 120’ minutes. UAE to face Socceroos in the semifinal match on 27 February. Read more about fourth quarterfinal here.
