FIFA Task Force proposes 2022 world cup dates for late November-December.

In a FIFA’s Task Force meeting today at Doha it is proposed that 22nd world cup can be held in winters at Qatar. This was the third and final meeting for the discussion on 2018-2022 FIFA calendar. All 6 Confederations are agreed to hold the 2022 FIFA world cup in late November/December months. The final decision on the proposed dates will be taken on 19-20 March, 2015 at Zurich.

In this meeting it is also discussed that format of Qatar world cup should be shortened as there are about 50 international football league to be affected as prestigious world cup tournament will be played in winters. Europe’s Premier League is one of the most vital leagues that will be affected to this. So we can expect that Qatar world cup will be having shorter format than 2014 FIFA world cup.

FIFA Executive Committee member and AFC President Sheikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa further explained that 2021 FIFA Confederations Cup can be held in another AFC country in the time period of June/July.

He said, “We are very pleased that, after careful consideration of the various opinions and detailed discussions with all stakeholders, we have identified what we believe to be the best solution for the 2018-2024 international match calendar and football in general.

Qatar world cup 2022 is moving from summer to winter season due to the fact that the country gets a lot of heat during the June-July month, hence it will difficult for players to survive in those conditions.
