New Zealand knockout England in T20 WC 2021 semifinal thriller

Daryl Mitchell, the hero for Blackcaps who knocked out English team from 2021 edition of ICC T20 World Cup being played in UAE. In the first semifinal clash between 2019 ODI world cup finalists, New Zealand defeated England by 5 wickets in Abu Dhabi.

Mitchell smashed 73 runs in 48 balls that helped Kiwis to through their first ever twenty20 world cup final to be played on 14 November. Winning toss, NZ skipper Kane Williamson invited England to put runs on the board and English team batted well to put up 166 runs on a good batting surface.

In response to the 167 runs target, New Zealand lost two quick wickets in first 3 overs of the innings as Guptill and Williamson returned to pavilions without scoring much.

At one stage New Zealand were 110 for 4 wickets lost in 16 overs. They were way behind in the chase but Chris Jordan’s 17th over gave Kiwis advantage as Jimmy Neesham hit him all over the park and 23 runs were earned in the crucial 17th over.
