Sydney Sixers beat Melbourne Renegades by 8 wickets

Nic Maddinson’s unbeaten 84 helped Sydney Sixers to register 8 wickets win against Melbourne Renegades in the 2nd match of BBL|04. He hit six 6s in the match. SYS chased down 155 runs target in 18.5 overs.

Melbourne Renegades inning

After losing toss captain Aaron Finch came to open bat with Matthew Wade. Both batsmen started to hit ball all over the park especially Wade. He was looking aggressive and hit two big sixes in his quick fire inning of 35 runs in 18 balls. MLR made 42 runs in 3.5 overs. Callum Ferguson joined Finch on the middle but captain couldn’t give much effort in the partnership. Finch got out in the 7th over of Melbourne Renegades innings and out for 20 in 18 balls. Tom Coppor failed to give support to Ferguson and lost his wicket after playing 3 balls.

Dwayne Bravo was at the crease now with Callum Ferguson who was looking good. Bravo played some good shoots and hit 2 sixes in 22 runs individual score. MLR lost 4th wickets in form of Bravo in 13th over when team’s total was 100. Ferguson also got out in the 16th over of innings while trying to score quick runs for his team. He made 40 runs in 32 balls.

After this no other batsman could able to score quick runs for Melbourne Renegades and at the end of 20 overs team managed to score 154 runs which wasn’t a big total in twenty20 cricket. Brett Lee, Sean Abbott and debutant Dwarshuis took 2-2 wickets each in MLR inning.

Sydney 6ers inning

In the response of 155 runs target Sydney Sixers got steady start in the second match of big bash league fourth season. English batsman Michael Lumb and Nic Maddinson started to play sensibly. Both openers were punishing the bad balls bowled by Melbourne Renegades bowlers.

After the fall of first wicket captain Moises Henriques joined Maddinson on the ground. Both batsmen focus on building the partnership. Henriques and Maddinson played some great shoots in 90 runs match winning partnership. Nic Maddinson hit 6 huge sixes in his 84 runs inning in 54 balls. When one run was required to win the match captain Henriques caught out on 36 runs individual score.

Nic Maddinson was named man of the match of for his brilliant fifty.
