Former legendary West Indies cricketer and destructive batsman Sir Vivian Richards has praised three big players of current cricket world ahead of 2015 cricket world cup. Viv Richards has boosted the morale of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers just before the world cup as he has praised all these 3 batsmen in his Columns for ICC.
Sir Vivian Richards describe his home team West Indies destructive batsman Chris Gayle as bowlers’ nightmare. He said Gayle is one of the players who can take away match from opposition within few minutes. He can be so destructive on his day.
Viv Richards said, “He is a batsman that I would optimally describe as bowlers’ nightmare. On his day, he can be very destructive. He can be a match-winner in any environment and in any match conditions. If he is on song, then the opposition can lose the match in the blink of an eye, that’s how destructive he can be.”
West Indies legend praised India’s rising star Virat Kohli as one of the upcoming legendary cricketer. Viv Richards mentioned that Kohli’s aggressiveness he likes a lot and he is the superb player of ODI and shorter formats of game.
Vivian Richards said, “At such a young age he has twice the number of ODI century than in Tests and he is such a confident player in limited-overs. It is not to say he isn’t so in the longer format, but I really like his aggressive style in ODI cricket. Look at the way he started his career, and the batsman he has already become today, he is simply magnificent in whatever little time he has played as compared to others.”
1975 and 1979 Cricket World Cup winning West Indies member Viv Richards says that whenever he watches South Africa batsman AB de Villiers, he thinks that he is watching himself batting on the ground. He praised him and said De Villiers can’t be taken out of any ODI team in the world.
Remember before few days ago Ab de Villiers scored fastest ODI century in 31 balls against West Indies.
Sir Viv Richards said, “when I watch him, it seems like I am watching myself. He looks very comfortable at the crease. The shots he plays bring such joy and not just to me. It is a joy to all cricket fans who are watching him the world over. I like his style and he is one player who is very hard to leave out of any ODI team.”
Just before few days of starting 2015 ICC world cup, Sir Vivian Richards these words and appreciation for these players will help them to get more confidence and play better in the world cup. Viv Richards also praised Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Clive Lloyd, Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden and Michael Hussey in his column at ICC.
