Borna Coric shocks Andy Murray at Dubai Tennis Championship QF

Age doesn’t matter in sports if you are passionate about your game. Once again it’s proved as 18 years old youngster Borna Coric has defeated experienced number 3 seeded 27 years old Andy Murray at the Dubai Tennis Championships Quarterfinal 2015. Coric beat Murray in direct sets by 6-1, 6-3 score to make his berth in the semi-final.

Beating Andy Murray, Borna Coric has become first teenager after Rafael Nadal to qualify in the Dubai Championship. Nadal won Dubai tennis championship in 2006 when he was just 19 years old.

Andy Murray also accepted after the match that Coric played good tennis throughout the match whereas he was failed to play today. Murray said, “He didn’t make many errors. He played very solid and he moved well. I made way too many mistakes from the beginning of the match right through to the end, early in rallies, rushing points.”

For 18 years old Croatia player Borna Coric it’s a big win and he’ll remember it for a long period of time. After winning match Coric said, “[It’s] one of the biggest wins, for sure. I was just trying to maintain my level, stay in the rallies as long as I can, which I was doing really well. I was also running very well. I’m still a little bit struggling with the best players when they are playing really good obviously. I always need to be on 100 per cent, and when I’m on 100 per cent, mentally [and] also tennis wise, then I think I can play with them.”

Borna Coric will be facing No. two seed Roger Federer in the semifinal match of 2015 Dubai Tennis Championship. World number 2 Federer also praised Coric for this great win.

Roger Federer said, “He seems to really play up when it matters against the better players. Today I think it was a great victory. I didn’t see any of the match, so I can’t tell about Murray’s level. But regardless of the level, to beat Murray 6-1, 6-3, it was, it’s a great score. Because historically Murray has played very well here in Dubai. It’s definitely a message I get.”
