The Cheltenham festival takes place in March so is now just a few months away with the stars of national hunt racing set to race for record prize money. The final day of the meeting is all about the Gold cup with the top staying chasers in action. This year’s edition has a very open look to it with most horses having questions to answer.
The likely favourite is set to be Might Bite following a high class performance in the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day. The quirky horse trained by Nicky Henderson has continued to improve and has now established himself as one of the top stayers around. With his fantastic jumping style he is likely to take a lot of beating and Paddy Power’s Gold cup betting market make him the 3/1 favourite to do so.
One of his likely market rivals will be last year’s victor Sizing John. Sizing John looked to be back to his best with a top reappearance victory however he failed to run his race on his next start. He is now likely to be freshened up ahead of his attempt to defend his crown in March.
