England and Bangladesh faced off each other in the 12th match of ICC World Cup 2019 league stage on 8 June at Cardiff. Winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bowl first and their decision was threaten with some top class batting performance by English Batsmen. Openers Bairstow and Roy added 128 runs for the first wicket and then middle order finishes the innings in an exciting manner.
Opener Jason Roy smacked 153 runs in 121 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 14 fours. It was amazing innings from him to build solid platform for upcoming batsmen to score easily. Johnny Bairstow was the first wicket as he was dismissed for 51. Skipper Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler played some terrific shots in 30 to 40 overs which helped team to reach 275 in 40 overs.
Buttler returned to pavilion after smashing 64 runs in 44 balls. He sent ball all over the park 4 times in his innings. Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett finished the innings with some glorious hitting at the end. Woakes made 18 in 8 balls meanwhile Plunkett scored 27 in just 9 balls that iuncludes four sixes. This helped English team to post 386 runs massive score on the board.
This was England’s highest ICC World Cup score. Mohammad Saifuddin and Mehidy Hasan took 2-2 wickets each in England innings for Bangladesh. In this massive chase, Bangladesh fought hard but couldn’t reach even near to the target and England registered 106 runs victory.
Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan scored his maiden hundred in cricket world cup and he made 121 runs to make his team in hunt. He’s lone warrior in the match for Tigers.
