Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been dropped from the national side after his below average performance on England tour. Prithvi Shaw is set to make debut for national team as Shikhar is not in the side. However it would be interesting to who opens as Mayank Agarwal is also included in the roster.

Fast bowler Ishant Sharma and all-rounder Hardik Pandya will also be missing Windies tests due to their respective injury concerns. India’s top pace bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been rested for this home series against 8th ICC ranked Caribbean team.

Ravi Ashwin and Jadeja will be key spin bowling options for skipper Kohli along with young all-rounder Hanuma Vihari who made debut against England in recently concluded series in England. Vihari is also a good spinner who can do better on Rajkot and Hyderabad pitches.

Dinesh Karthik is also dropped from test squad. He was part of the team on England tour but Pant’s good show in English conditions forced selectors to stay with him for Windies tests.

India squad

Virat Kohli (Captain), Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mayank Agarwal, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj.
