NZ lead by 118 Runs on Day-3 against SL in Wellington test

Kiwi middle order batsman Kane Williamson 80 runs not out inning leads New Zealand on Day-3 of the final test match in 2014-15 series against Sri Lanka. At the stumps of day three in the second test, New Zealand was 118 runs ahead. On the beginning of third day, Kiwi team started to play on the score of 22/0 that they left on day-2.

Both openers Rutherford and Latham played sensibly and took NZ score past 50. After this, Sri Lankan first inning hero bowler Nuwan Pradeep got breakthrough. He dismissed Rutherford on 40 runs individual score. New Zealand was at 75/1. Just after this wicket in the successive over Pradeep outs Latham. Ross Taylor couldn’t opened his account and gone for duck. Herath deceived Taylor in flight bowl and bowled him.

Now Kiwi team was in big trouble as they were on 79/3. Captain Brendon McCullum and Kane Williamson started to build partnership. But unfortunately McCullum LBW by Prasad. After this Jimmy Neesham joined Williamson but he couldn’t contribute more than 19 runs for Kiwi team. BJ Watling came under big pressure as NZ were 159-5 and ahead just 24 runs against Sri Lanka.

Watling and Williamson started to play good shoots with great defence. Both batsmen returned pavilion not out. Kane Williamson is batting on 80 runs whereas Watling was batting at 48. New Zealand is leading by 118 runs with 5 wickets on day-3 and will be looking to increase the lead on day-4 to put pressure on Sri Lankan side. Nuwan Pradeep took 3 wickets in the second innings of match.
