Sachin Tendulkar, a house hold name in the country and a popular figure all over the world was given the Bharat Ratna for his extraordinary services to the sport. However, a petition in legal was registered against the Master Blaster to return the prestigious award.
VK Naswah was the petitioner who filed a PIL with the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Thursday. He filed a petition explaining how Sachin misused his power and honor of appearing in commercial advertisements. He wanted the government to take back or the award or asked Sachin to return the award on moral grounds.
The High Court has asked for further inquiries into the matter. The court wanted to know if any guidelines from the Supreme Court barred Sachin Tendulkar from appearing in any commercial TV advertisements, the ABP News reported.
Sachin Tendulkar was bestowed upon him the award of Bharat Ratna last November. He is now a part of the advisory committee of the BCCI. He has been an important part of Indian cricket over the last two decades and is widely known to be the best batsmen of his time.
He has numerous batting records to his name. Sachin, who was great to watch in his prime has given some great moments for India cricket. He is the first batsman to score a double century in One Day Cricket. He is still the only batsman to have scored 100 international hundreds in his career.
The highest point in his career according to him was the World Cup triumph in 2011. He is one of the most respected players on the cricketing field. He is down to earth and has always been praised by players and commentators all around the world. This makes this petition all the more surprising and Sachin if found guilty would not mind surrendering the award.
