Sangakkara becomes fifth batsman to score 12,000 runs in test

Sri Lanka batsman Kumar Sangakkara has created history on Day-1 of the second test match against New Zealand when he was batting on two runs. He has become the fifth batsman in test match cricket to score 12,000 runs. Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid are the other players who have more than twelve thousand runs in test cricket. Sangakkara scored fastest 12000 runs in test history so far.

Before starting of Wellington test, Sangakkara was on 11998 runs in 221 innings. As he came to bat on day one of Basin Reserve test, he scored two runs on Trent Boult’s bowl. He completed 12000 runs in 222 innings.

Sri Lanka were on 78 runs for the loss of 5 wickets at the stumps Day-1 of Wellington test match. Before this New Zealand cricket team all out on 221 runs.

Sachin Tendulkar is at the top in the list of most test cricket runs. He made 15,921 runs in 329 innings.
