Cricketers like “Kusal Perera” never will let test cricket die as the Sri Lankan player smacked a brilliant unbeaten hundred in the fourth innings of Durban test to take his team towards a historic win against hosts South Africa.
Kusal Perera made excellent 153 runs in 200 balls to seal 1-wicket victory over South Africa. Sri Lanka was chasing a big target of 304 runs and team lost 9 wickets on 226 runs. The last pair on the crease made valuable 78 runs to give visitors 1-0 lead and Perera’s inning is termed as the best test innings of the decade. He was awarded Man Of The Match for this match winning knock.
“Great effort as a team, specially the lower order batsmen. They gave me good support. I believed myself, and we did it. Still I am thinking I did my part. This is really special win for us. We did a lot of homework, a lot of hard work,” Perera said after the match.
Sri Lanka was struggling in the chase as they lost top 5 wickets on just 110 score and then Perera and de Silva stood together and built crucial 96 runs partnership. After team lost 4 wickets in just 20 runs session and SL required another 78 runs to win the match with just one wicket in hand. Sri-Lankan fans could see the defeat is near but thanks to Vishwa Fenando who stood tall and spent 73 minutes on the crease to help Kusal playing his innings and lead team towards victory.
