Italia football head coach Roberto Mancini believes that his team can win next edition of UEFA European Championship in 2020. As per his latest interview to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Roberto is confident that young players will build strong squad that can lead team to win Euro 2020 and do well in the next fifa world cup 2022.
“The trauma of the World Cup has passed. We must keep this in mind as a warning, but we have a duty to go back to thinking big. Young players are the common theme here: in two years we can put together a strong team, who can do well at the Euros and give the World Cup in 2022 a good go,” Mancini told Corriere della Sera .
Three-time European championship finalist and one-time winner, Italy failed to qualify for 2018 world cup which hurt the entire nation. But Italian coach confessed that team’s overcome that disaster and now would work to make things better for upcoming big tournaments like Euro and 2022 world cup. Italy won only Euro football event in 1968 and reached to finals of 2000 and 2012 editions.
Roberto Mancini also made big statement that Argentina couldn’t win Copa America championship without star footballer Lionel Messi. According him, Italy is a better side than other teams in the tournament.
“There are no teams who are clearly better than us. Argentina couldn’t win the Copa America with Messi and the others don’t have Messi, so we why can’t we think about winning the European Championship?”
“Barella, Chiesa, Zaniolo, Romagnoli and many others? Yes, we’ve been brave enough to focus on young players and there could be others because we have many more good ones. Kean isn’t playing for Juve but could almost anywhere else, Tonali should be playing in Serie A, Sensi has huge quality and I always keep an eye on Pellegri,” he said.
Mancini faiths on youngsters like Chiesa, Romagnoli, Chiesa and Barella are in the race to be a part of the national side and these guys will be crucial for Italia in 2020 Euro.
“Ciro Immobile must get back to scoring for the national team, like Belotti, Insigne and Politano. After that, we’ll make our choices. Has Balotelli’s engine reignited at Marseille? We hope it keeps going for a long time because everything depends on him.”
