2014 FIFA Ballon d’Or is being held in Zurich at Switzerland. There are three players in the race for FIFA’s world player of the year. Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Manuel Neuer are in the final race for award. Messi has won FIFA Ballon award three consecutive times from the starting of awards since 2010. He won 2010, 2011 and 2012 awards.

Cristiano Ronaldo won 2013 FIFA Ballon d’or award.

Germany player Thomas Muller is looking forward to see goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to win the award. He said it will be great to see a goalkeeper to win such a big FIFA award. He was tremendous in our 2014 FIFA world cup win and he deserves to win. It will be boring if Cristiano Ronaldo wins it.

He said, “The fact Manu’s won the World Cup is a plus for him, and it would be boring to have Ronaldo win again. If that’s the case, you’d have to ask yourself why they bother having these events. Next year they might as well just send the winner the results in the post.”

2014 FIFA world cup winning goal scorer Mario Gotze also supported him and tweeted, “#NeuerForBallonDor @Manuel_Neuer you deserve it!.”

It will be first time in 24 FIFA years history that a goalkeeper becomes player of the year if Neuer wins FIFA Ballon d’Or award 2014. The live streaming and telecast of 5th FIFA Ballon d’Or you can watch on official website of FIFA.
