Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the upcoming One-Day International series against Australia and New Zealand. Bumrah was crucial part of India’s pace bowling line-up on the current Australia 2019 tour and he helped side to claim first ever test victory in Australia.
Mohammad Siraj has been called in the ODI squad as Bumrah’s replacement. BCCI cleared that Bumrah was rested due to heavy work load and busy Indian team’s schedule. Fast bowler took 21 wickets in the recent 4-test match series against Australia and bowled more than 150 overs. Hence selectors rested him and named Siraj as the replacement.
“Keeping in mind the workload of the bowler, it was best felt to give him adequate rest ahead of the home series against Australia,” BCCI said in a release.
Siraj hasn’t made debut for India in One Day Internationals and he is expected to make it in Australia as series kicking off on January 12. Siddarth Kaul is also included in India’s t20 squad for New Zealand tour 2019.
