Cook Sacked as England ODI captain, Morgan to lead in cwc15

Alistair cook has been dropped from England cricket team as ODI captain and will not be representing England as captain in ICC world cup 2015. On his place Eoin Morgan is appointed England’s One Day team captain who will also lead team in 11th cricket world cup to be played in Australia-New Zealand.

Cook was appointed as captain for world cup when probable 30 squad was announced but after the big defeat against Sri Lanka in ODI series by 5-2, Selectors moved to U-turn and removed him from captaincy. In past one year England has not performed well in one days and Alistair Cook’s performance as batsman was not as good as it should be. Hence it forced selectors to take this decision. He scored just one half century in past 22 ODI innings.

Eoin Morgan is one of the growing youngsters in the side and did captaincy for England in few one days as well.

He will now lead England cricket team in ODI tri series in Australia in January and also will be the captain of English team in ICC world cup. England is in pool A of world cup and they’ll face Australia in their opening match of tournament on 14th Feb.
