International Cricket Council have announced the schedule of 2016 ICC U19 cricket world cup that will be hosted in Bangladesh from 27 January to 14 February. The warm-up matches of under-19 cricket world cup 2016 are scheduled to take place from 22 to 25 January. This is the 11th edition of U19 cricket world cup and 16 teams will be participating in the tournament. South Africa will be the title defenders in championship.
After announcing the schedule and fixtures, ICC General Manager Cricket, Geoff Allardice said, “The ICC U19 Cricket World Cup an event which provides talented youngsters an early taste of international cricket in a global setting. Countless players have come through this event, and emerged shortly afterwards on to the international arena.”
“It is at this tournament that the players also receive important education on topics such anti-doping and anti-corruption, which provides them a head start on the challenges that lie ahead for professional sportsmen. Bangladesh has staged a number of ICC events in the past and all these have been hugely successful because of the passionate and enthusiastic crowds as well as high quality playing facilities,” he added.
Full time members are playing in the competition whereas 6 associate members team namely Scotland, Namibia, Nepal, Fiji, Afghanistan and Canada are participating in the 2016 U19 cricket world cup. Title defending champions South Africa will be playing opening game of tournament against hosts Bangladesh on 27 January at Chittagong.

Groups
16 teams are divided into four groups, each consisting 4 teams. Hosts Bangladesh and 2014 U19 world cup winners South Africa are placed in Group A. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are together in Group B whereas England and West Indies are in the Group C. Group D of 2016 under-19 cricket world cup is quite interesting as 2-2 times u19 world cup winners Australia and India are placed together along with New Zealand.
