India won bronze medal by beating Holland hockey team by 3-2 in penalties. Manpreet Singh was awarded Man of the match for his brilliant performance.

Both teams were at the score level of 5-5 after the full time. India was awarded penalty on the final penalty shoot-out. Rupinder Pal Singh converted the given penalty and won bronze medal for the nation.

At one stage India was way back in the match as Holland team was leading with 2-0 in third quarter. Then India scored back to back 5 goals to take the 5-2 lead in the match. The game was almost in India’s bag and then Dutch players came to action and scored the goals. In the final moments of fourth quarter, Netherlands got penalty corner and they level the scores.
