The second quarter final of the 44th edition of Copa America played at the Estadio Municipal Bicentenario Stadium between Bolivia and Peru. Peru were the favourites for this match because of the fact that Bolivia playing a Quarter Final since 1997 and Peru were the Semi Finalists in the previous edition.
The opening minutes of the match produced very few chances until Peru and Flamengo striker Paolo Guerrero scored twice in three minutes interval to give Peru a 2-0 lead and a berth in the Semi-final. Paolo Guerrero was well criticized due to lack of scoring in the past three years. But the Peru coach defended him and gave him a start once again.
He got his first goal in the 20th minute when he headed a cross from Vargas to edge past the goalkeeper Romel Quinonez. Three minutes later Guerrero tucked the ball underneath Quinonez, who had lost his footing.

Bolivia slowly tried to pull things back into the contest, when they almost scored a goal via Lionel Morales. Pedro Gallese made a super save off a long ranger from Martins Moreno few minutes later.
Peru was leading with 2-0 at the end of first half. The second half was bit dramatic when Guerrero got his Hat-trick at the 74th minute of the match. He drove through the Bolivian defense and scored his first International hat trick. He moved up to second spot in the list of all time Peruvian goal scorer.
Bolivia pulled a goal back in the final minutes when Martins Moreno converted a penalty kick in the 84th minute. But that was the only reason to smile for Bolivian fans. Peru will now face the hosts Chile in Santiago on Monday.
