It wasn’t easy task for Petra to reach the final and win it as she had to face some of the big challenges in the road to final. The biggest challenge was in semi-final when she faced world number 1 Serena Williams and beat her in straight sets.

For Svetlana Kuznetsova, the biggest match was semi-final as she played defending champion Maria Sharapova in that knockout clash. Hence we can say that both players had struggled hard to reach the final and Petra was a bit better than Svetlana as she claim the Madrid crown.

After winning the match Petra Kvitova said, “I think that for me it’s always like tough for the other player to know that something is wrong on the other side, and you still have to be focused and playing your game. I knew that she was not 100% ready in the end of the match when she left the court before my last game. It’s not the best way how you can win the match, but it’s still the win, so.”
