2011 cricket world cup winning team opener Virender Sehwag has picked four semi-finalists of 2015 ICC world cup. Sehwag believes that India will make it through semifinals along with hosts Australia and New Zealand. He has also predicted that South Africa will make it through semifinals. Sehwag is confident that India will qualify for world cup semifinal surely.
Virender Sehwag said, “I am sure India will make it to the semi-finals and after that it would depend on how they play on a particular day. Besides India, I think Australia, South Africa and New Zealand would make the semis.”

He also believes that team will not be too much affected by their current performance in the tri-series and test matches in Australia. He has mentioned in a radio program on 92.7 that before entering into 2003 cricket world cup India had bad performance on New Zealand tour but team came up and reached to the final of tournament. So players need to forget past and focus on world cup.
Sehwag said, “I don’t think the team will be much affected with their recent performances. Everyone will give their 100 per cent effort during the World Cup and recent results may not have any influence. Just before the 2003 World Cup, India had a disastrous tour of New Zealand and everyone thought that we won’t do well in South Africa. But we ended up making it to the finals.”
“Players will have to identify their problems. I am sure all they of them must be working hard to and preparing well for the World Cup and some of them would come out with flying colours,” he added.
Ignored from 2015 Indian world cup squad Sehwag believes it will not be easy for India to defend title as the conditions and pitches are very different from 2011 tournament which was hosted in Asia. He says Australia and New Zealand conditions are not be like that and bowling will be the key factor as well with changed rules in One-Day cricket.
He said, “Obviously, the fact that the pitches are different in Australia and New Zealand, would make a difference. The part-time bowlers also may find it more difficult, especially with ODI rules being changed. With five fielders in the ring, it’s very hard to play a part-timer. So that might be a disadvantage for our team.”
“In this scenario, selecting the 11th player in the side becomes very important. What Yuvraj (Singh) did for us in the last World Cup as a fifth bowler was great. We hope that (Stuart) Binny or (Ravindra) Jadeja to do it for us this time around.”

Multan Ka Sultan Virender Sehwag adds that if India wins their opening game against Pakistan it will be great relief for the team and will help players to gain confidence. In his opinion if a team wins big pressure match in the starting of a tournament like world cup their morale gets boost and team looks to perform more and more better.
Sehwag said, “If you can win your first match, you don’t feel any pressure. Once you beat a big team in the first one or two games, you know you can handle the other sides during the league stage. If India can beat Pakistan in their tournament opener, it would a big confidence booster for them.”
India will face Pakistan on 15 February at the Adelaide Oval.
