US Open 2020: Rafael Nadal pulls out from the tournament

US Open 2020 tennis championship men’s title defending champion for the year Rafael Nadal has decided not to take part in the upcoming tournament. Nadal announced his partition from this year’s US Open on social networking site Twitter citing coronavirus spread around the globe and pathetic schedule.

“After many thoughts I have decided not to play this year’s US Open. The situation is very complicated worldwide, the COVID-19 cases are increasing, it looks like we still don’t have control of it,” Nadal said it on twitter.

“We know that the reduced tennis calendar is barbaric this year after 4 months stopped with no play, I understand and thank for the efforts they are putting in to make it happen. We have just seen the announcement of Madrid not being played this year,” Nadal quoted.

34-year old Spain’s tennis sensation Nadal slammed at international calendar in this COVID-19 situation. Although he appreciated efforts of ATP for organizing the event and making available for all fans through television.

US Open championship to be held from 31st August to 13th September and then players should get ready to compete in French Open.

“All my respects to the USTA, the US Open organisers and the ATP for trying to put the event together for the players and the fans around the world through TV.”

Legendary tennis gentleman of this era Roger Federer has also pulled out from this year’s grand slam citing knee problems.
