The sixth edition of ICC World Twenty20 is beginning from 8th March in India and hosts will be one of the favorites to win. India has been doing well in all the formats of international cricket and when it comes to T20 format, there’s hardly any team that comes close to India. The first inaugural T20 world cup event was held in 2007 and India clearly emerged as a master of this format by defeating Pakistan and wining the first ever T20 world cup.

Ever since then India has grown better in this format. Recent matches with Australia and Sri Lanka have proved that India is still one of the best teams and a tough competitor for T20 world cup 2016. The history of Indian Team in previous editions of tournament proves that they can become champions of 6th season.

Openers

With the starting trio as Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli are in their prime forms and can give any team a run for their money. Their guns have been pumping out runs in this format from the start of this New Year 2016. Rohit Sharma has been the man of series in the ODI series, and Virat Kohli has dominated bowlers like a pro. Shikhar Dhawan has also made important contributions to the matches.

Middle Order Settled

Gone are the days when India’s had to worry about its middle order batsmen in a match. Middle order woes are finally gone. Tough the top order scored most of the runs in ODI matches, the winning century by Manish Pandey boosted the morale of middle order. Also MS Dhoni batted really well in Sydney and his heroics in the last over really brought him back on the map and showed everyone that MSD is a true match finisher.

Returning to the team, experienced Suresh Raina and the ballistic Yuvraj Singh has brought a stability to the middle order and this was clearly seen in the 3rd T20 when Yuvraj and Raina played a major role and helped India chase a record score and whitewashed Australia in their own land.

The Pace Attack

Bowlers like Bumrah and Nehra have brought a certain discipline in the pace attack of Indian bowling.  Credit of India’s win in the t20 tournament goes to these two pacers who with their sensible bowling helped India win. Bumrah and Nehra bowled perfectly and prevented Australian batters to score big in the slog overs.  Addition of Mohammed Shami to the bowling lineup as a fast bowler has only strengthened the Indian bowling attack.

Spinners perform well in home conditions

Spinners like R Ashwin and Jadeja have performed really well in the t20 matches and with the addition of veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh to the squad the spinner attack is going to be lethal for any batting lineup. Also this is a world known fact that India’s spin attack is the most lethal around the world.

Home condition and the wining momentum

The major advantage India has is the presence of home crowd for their support which makes them formidable. Also if India manages to continue their wining momentum in the soon to come Asia cup T20 then it would be too difficult to defeat the Men in Blue on their home turf.
