Mumbai Indians appoints Ponting as head coach for IPL 2015

Mumbai Indians have appointed former Australian captain and cricketer Ricky Ponting for 8th season of Indian Premier League. Ponting was associated with Mumbai Indians during 2013 IPL edition when team claimed title. He played for Mumbai as a captain and player in IPL-6.

Ricky Ponting will be the head coach of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2015.

Ricky Ponting was a great cricketer for Australia cricket team. He was a part of 1999 cricket world cup winning Australian side. Ponting led Australia in 2003 and 2007 ICC cricket world cups and made Kangaroos proud of him. Ricky to replace John Wright as head coach for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2015.

Anil Kumble said, “we are delighted to have Ricky back with us and look forward to his contribution based on his experience and expertise. John Wright will continue his association with MI and will look after talent scouting and youth development, which is one of the areas that we would like to build a stronger base in years to come.”
