2007, 2011 cricket world cups runner-up and 1996 world cup winner Sri Lankan team will be eyeing to become world cricket champions again. Sri Lanka played last two world cup finals but couldn’t finish it at the winning node. Angelo Mathews will be leading SL team throughout the tournament and Sri Lanka will play inaugural match of 2015 world cup against home team New Zealand.
Sri Lanka is not such a great form these days as they lost test and ODI series against New Zealand month whereas they were beaten by Zimbabwe in the warm-up match by 7 wickets big margin. Sri Lanka is in pool A of world cup.

Angelo Mathews (Captain), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Lahiru Thirimanne, Dinesh Chandimal, Dimuth Karunaratne, Jeevan Mendis, Thisara Perera, Suranga Lakmal, Lasith Malinga, Dushmantha Chameera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Rangana Herath, Sachithra Senanayake.
Key Players: Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Lasith Malinga and Nuwan Kulasekara.
At the top order Sri Lanka has got destructive Dilshan, Thirimanne and Sangakkara. Tillakaratne Dilshan is in superb form and he scored few hundreds, fifties in past few weeks in New Zealand. So he’ll be having huge responsibility to provide good start at the top of order. Thirimanne needs to spend time on wicket to score runs.
Kumar Sangakkara is also in good touch as he scored double hundred in test match and century in ODIs as well against Kiwi team. So he is in good touch and will be key player for Sri Lanka in the middle order.

Mahela Jayawardene, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal and Thisara Parera will be the vital batsmen at the middle and lower order for Sri Lanka. Dimuth Karunaratne will also be playing in some games at the place of Chandimal. SL will be highly depended on Mahel Jayawardene in this world cup as he is playing his last ICC world cup along with Kumar Sangakkara. So both these guys will be key players for Sri Lanka to win the cup.
Captain Mathews and Perera need to play handy innings at the end of inning.
Lasith Malinga’s returning to the side with full fitness is really a big morale booster for the side and it strengthens the bowling attack. He played two warm-up games to get some match practice but didn’t bowl his full over quota. Along with him Kulasekara, Herath and Perera will be key players in Sri Lanka bowling attack.
