VIVO IPL 2016 Retained and Released Players Full List

Indian Premier League ninth edition is on the door and team franchises have started to build their squads for the season. The players auction for VIVO IPL 2016 is scheduled to take place on 6th February and before moving towards the auction, all 6 teams have retained and released players. A total of 101 cricketers are retained by franchises of 8 teams whereas 6 teams have let 61 players go from their squad in 2016.

Team Rajkot and Team Pune are the two new franchises in Indian Premier League as they replaced Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Both these two teams picked 5-5 players each in the players draft took place in December 2015. Hence they didn’t release any player for auction.

On the other hand rest 6 teams retained some fantastic cricketers for the 9th edition. KKR retained Gautam Gamhir, Manish Pandey, Umesh Yadav, Robin Uthappa, Yusuf Pathan, Sunil Narine, Shakib Al Hasan and many more valuable players. Kolkata Knight Riders didn’t retain some top names like Johan Botha, Pat Cummins, Jeemy Neesham and Ryan Ten Doeschate for 2016 IPL edition.

Title defending champions Mumbai Indians didn’t let go Rohit Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Kieron Pollard, Lasith Malinga, Corey Anderson, Ambati Rayudu, Lendl Simmons, Vinay Kumar and more players from 2015 roster. Mumbai Indian freed Aaron Finch, Alex Hales, Josh Hazlewood, Pragyan Ojha and some top cricketers.

King XI Punjab released big names like Virender Sehwag, George Bailey, Thisara Perera, Karnveer Singh and more 4 players from previous season. Eventually Sehwag wasn’t released as he already announced retirement from international cricket and IPL. KXIP retained the services of Glenn Maxwell, Manan Vohra, David Miller, Mitchell Johnson, Sandeep Sharma, Shaun Marsh, Murali Vijay and some more star cricketers.

Delhi Daredevils retained Mohammad Shami, Albie Morkel, Zaheer Khan, Imran Tahir, JP Duminy, Travis Head and more players from last season roster. The biggest release of the 2016 IPL was when DD didn’t retain Yuvraj Singh. Delhi Daredevils also released Manoj Tiwary, Angelo Mathews, Gurnider Sandhu and other 6 players.

Royal Challengers Bangalore retained the services of captain Virat Kohli, destructive opener Chris Gayle and AB De Villiers. Including these top stars, RCB also didn’t let go Adam Milne, Mitchel Starc, Varun Aaron, Sarfaraz Khan and more cricketers. Team released Sean Abbott, Darren Sammy, Dinesh Karthik, Ashok Dinda, Jalaj Saxena and some other players.

Sunrisers Hyderabad released big names like Kevin Pietersen, Dale Steyn, Ishant Sharma and more. SRH retained Trent Boult, Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson, Eoin Morgan, David Warner and more other top signings from 2015 edition.
