The Men’s Hero Hockey World League Final is beginning today in Raipur and 8 teams are going to face other for the title. On the opening day of tournament there are two matches. In the opening game of HWL final host India to take on Argentina from 18:30 local time whereas the second match will be played between Netherlands and Germany at 20:30 IST.

Despite India’s recent loss against Australia, Men in Blue will be looking to start the Hockey world league campaign with a win over Argentina. But it won’t be easy for Indian team as Argentina is one of the strongest sides in the competition. Coach Roelant Oltmans is happy with the performance of Indian team against Australia though team faced defeat.
He said, “We’ve shown signs of improvement during the test series against Australia last week. I am happy with the overall performance, but of course there is always room for improvement and that’s what we will try to find out.”
Indian team will be highly depending on skipper Sardar Singh who is expected to play some decent game in the HWL opener. Ramandeep Singh, SV Sunil, VR Raghunath and Akashdeep Singh will to strike the goal at the front as Argentina are strong in defence.

“It’s always interesting to see where we are. We have indeed improved, but you never know how much unless you play the best teams in the tournament. And this is the best tournament to find out. And we want to show that we really have improved. More than others, we want to show ourselves that we are getting closer to the best teams in the world.”
